Tom Kirchmaier
Tom is a former aerospace and defense executive who began as a systems engineer and progressed in his career through project management, general management, and executive leadership. Two key positions that shaped Tom’s approach to organizational leadership were Sr. Vice President and General Manager at General Dynamics Information Technology ($1.5B in revenue and 4000 people) and later President of General Dynamics’ Advanced Information Systems (nearly $2B of revenue and 5000 employees). These positions helped him understand the critical nature of balancing customer, employee, suppliers, and community stakeholders.
Before retiring from GD, Tom moved into an executive position reporting directly to the CEO with responsibility for the corporation’s strategy and development, M&A, communications, international trade compliance, and ESG. This final position had Tom focusing more on board and shareholder priorities rounding out his experience managing all the major corporate stakeholders.
Tom graduated from Cornell University with a BSEE degree, Pepperdine University with an MBA, and the Defense Acquisition University (six month total immersion course in Federal acquisition and program management)
When he is not active in his passion of advancing/educating good leadership, he is either in his woodshop making furniture or wake surfing at Lake Anna Virginia.
